Our mission at the Union County Riding Club is to provide a safe, non-alcoholic environment for
families to participate in the sport of barrel racing.
The Union County Riding Club was formed in the late 1960's by several families living in the Union County area with a love for horseback riding. Not having an arena, they would meet and ride in one of the founding member's cow field to participate in the sport of barrel racing. They would periodically have trail rides and picnics. After several years they were able to obtain a lease on the property where they currently ride. In 1972 the Union County Riding Club became incorporated. The Club has participated in many community activities throughout its history. When the Florida Sheriff's Boys Ranch in Live Oak decided to start having an annual open house and horse show some of the club members formed a square dance team that performed on horseback. UCRC has continued to participate in this event and others to raise money and support for the Florida Sheriff's Youth Ranches. They have also been holding an annual trail ride for St. Jude's Childen's Hospital since 2000.
